Just got back from a Sunny Sweeney show in Austin.....Sunny and her rhinestone studded guitar never fail to impress me. Love her.

And here's a video that I'd never seen before - Sunny covering my absolute favorite Ryan Adams song....man, would I kill to hear this live....

On Monday and Tuesday Jewel and her husband Ty Murray were in my hometown help finishing working on a home for a family in my community for a future episode of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition that will air in February. The mother of the family who is battling stage four colon cancer is a middle school science teacher and so also on Monday Jewel and a few others helped fix up the mother's classroom. That's so cool that Jewel and Ty got to help out.

Dolly Parton is a female vocalist winner, and Taylor reminds me a lot of Dolly. Not the strongest singer in the bunch, but definitely pleasant-voiced. The year Dolly won, she surely must have been up against women who were stronger singers or with bigger ranges, but that didn't mean Dolly didn't deserve her win.

Taylor lipsynchs a ton. Her award show performance of Shoulda Said No was lipsynched for half of it, and the first performance of the other night was lipsynched. Pretty sure she does it at her shows too.

I think Taylor deserved the EOTY award. She put on an AMAZING show in her last tour, anyone who was there or has seen the vids knows how great (and huge) her shows are. Selling out venue after venue, selling 4,3 million albums in one year, I mean... she's doing something right.

Late to the party but....I wish an overzealous egotistical rap artist interrupted me. Because yes Taylor has been pushing country music into markets (pop and sush/international) SNL, VMAs it isn't in every single day..but. BUT. As a vocalist she is still very green, sometimes amateurish & pitchy. Her songs are well written for a 19 year old but we aren't talking poetry. As far as Entertainer of the Year....... I am just not happy that she won. Yes Album of the Year and Video of...

That was an amazing performance by the Zac Brown band. Zac Brown is an amazing guitar palyer.
I loved Miranda's performane too. I am obsessed with White Liar.

I love Taylor but two performances from her where not necessary. I dont think she should have won for vocals over the other ladies. It should have gone to Miranda or Carrie.

I think there was an award show that Carrie performed twice on once, but I'm not positive. It just seems I remember thinking the same of "why the hell does Carrie get two performances?", lol.

Penny ~ Thanks for the link to both the video and Army Pvt. Drees' page. How sad to read that Drees had never been away from home before joining the Army, was deployed on his 19th birthday and was killed a month later. Very cool for the guy to have the sticker...

Last night Zac Brown Band performed on the CMA's. On the lead guys guitar he has a sticker you can see in the video. The sticker was given to him at the Hodag Country Music Festival in Wisconsin this summer. It's a memorial sticker for a boy that lived the next town over from where I live. He was killed earlier this year in Afghanistan. His name was Steven Drees.
