For lack of a better place to put it, I got this from TWoP
Per idolforums Boney James & American Idol's Syesha Mercado Release Exclusive Internet Only Single. The Only Place You Are "Gonna Get It" Is On iTunes! Urban Jazz Icon and American Idol's Last Woman Standing Release iTunes Exclusive on May 12th, 2008 Los Angeles, CA- On May 12th two-time Grammy Award nominee Boney James and current American Idol Top 3 finalist Syesha Mercado join forces to release the soulful uptempo groover "Gonna Get It" exclusively on iTunes. Written by James and critically acclaimed R&B singer-songwriter Rahsaan Patterson, "Gonna Get It" pairs the multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and producer James with the last woman standing on American Idol - seductive songstress Syesha Mercado. Says James: "The first time I saw Syesha perform, I was incredibly impressed. 'Gonna Get It' seemed like a perfect fit for her. I'm really proud of how well she's doing on American Idol. It's up on Boney's myspace for listening: http://www.myspace.com/boneyjamesmusic Very interesting and ... Syesha sounds freaking phenomenal on this. Yeah, sorry, I'll take her like this over Tamyra, Fantasia, Trenyce, LaToya or any of the other R&B also rans she's been compared unfavorably to this year. I hope she gets a record deal - if she sounds like this and has some good to great songs, I'll be buying. I'm disappointed in her getting that Alicia Keys song. I just don't 'get' the Alicia Keys love - I think her voice is average but the only song she's put out that I've ever liked is Fallin'. I hope Syesha can make the Alicia song she's singing atleast tolerable for me. |

^^is this allowed? to release new material, like not from BEFORE the show started, before the competition is even over? She's still on the show. I love her
balls for not throwing in the towel, but seriously what do the producers have to say about this?

Not a clue - and nobody knows when it was recorded. It could have been before she went on idol. As for the timing of the release, it does seem odd that idol
would allow it to come out before she's voted off. If they truly want David A. gone, this might be another way of pimping Syesha without actually pimping
her?
It's up on ITUNES. I hope they put it in their new release scroll thingy tomorrow so others can see that it's there. |

Syesha may have released "Gonna Get It", but I have a feeling not too many people are "Gonna Buy It."
I suppose as long as the producers say OK, any contestant can do anything. Crapenstein's band's album, "Pray For The Soul of Betty", I think was released in April 2005, during Idol. I think it was on the Billboard 200 for two weeks, and it sold about 25,000 copies. I seem to remember standing in line for Kelly's Breakaway Tour concert at the Hammerstein Ballroom some girls wearing "Pray For The Soul of Betty" T-shirts. I also remember rolling my eyes. |

I didn't know where to put this so I figure I'll put it in this thread. I know a few of you are David Cook fans, well if you'd like an official
tshirt you can get one for $10 and part of the proceeds go to the American Cancer Society. There are three tshirts to choose from. You can get them if you
live in the area by going to there store or if you live far away you can call them and order them over the phone. Here is the website, http://www.freestylegraphics.net/ ,and the pictures of all three shirts are right above the phone number and address.

Why did Syesha choose to do Fever. Honestly that song is so tired. Put it to rest already. Didn't she already perform it once or was it someone else?
It's been done so many times it's hard to keep track.

Cook's personal choice is "Dare You To Move" by Switchfoot.
I'd rather hear the Collective Soul song. |

Archuleta defends his father in TV Guide interview
By Scott D. Pierce Deseret News David Archuleta refutes reports portraying his father as the stage father from hell in a new interview with TV Guide magazine. In the May 19 issue, which will appear on newstands Thursday, Utah's "Idol" finalist flatly denied his father, Jeff, is an overbearing stage parent. "I've heard some weird things that people have been saying, and it's kind of a bummer," David Archuleta said Among the "weird things" was a report that the week the Murray teen forgot some of the lyrics during his "American Idol" performance, his father had denied him water during rehearsals and brought him to tears. "That's kind of stupid," Archuleta said. "I'm 17! I think I'd be able to stand up for myself if he were to take my water away." It's worth noting that none of the stories about Jeff Archuleta that have circulated have been attributed - they all quote "unnamed sources." And that David Archuleta is in a better position to know what's going on than any "unnamed source." "I think I, of all people, would know what's going on, and he's been great," David told TV Guide. "He's given me a lot of good advice and helped me from making any dumb decisions. He understands more than anyone what I want in music, and I've felt really blessed to have someone like that." While he didn't say the ongoing controversy has affected his performances, David did say it has bothered his father. "I don't really care what people say, but I know it's affected him and stressed him out," he said. The Utah teenager and the other two finalists, David Cook of Blue Springs, Mo., and Syesha Mercado of Sarasota, Fla., will each perform three songs on tonight's "American Idol," Fox Ch. 13, at 7 p.m. |
