Question though, does Carrie even have a say in her songs going to pop radio or is that her team? I don't want to dog her if she has no control over that!

I would guess she does have a say in it crossing over to pop. An artist might not have a say in whether they can get their music played in a particular format (Kelly and Sober), but I think an artist would be able to have a say if they didn't want it a format. But if I had any doubt...LN being co-written by Carrie, following BHC's formula of crossover flavor, assures me that Carrie wants LN to be a crossover. And why wouldn't she? It's a very smart sales move on her part.

I just don't like the "consider it a compliment" statement because it is disrespectful to the radio format that fully supported her single. It would be like if Kelly said that she considers it a compliment that none of her songs could be mistaken for country...after Because Of You was supported on country stations. Granted, it was played because it was Reba's new single, but it was accepted when it didn't have to be.

It might have been one of those comments that you wish you could take back. She was more intentioned in that moment to prove her allegiance to country music than dissing pop. But, it's hard trying to play both sides of the field.
