The music gods were on my side tonight. I answered an ad on craigslist today. Someone was looking to swap an extra ticket they had for tonight so that they
could see Sara on Thursday as well. I took a leap of faith and decided to reply to the ad anyway and ask if they would sell me the ticket outright. I had to
wait until 5pm but Luigi - my new Brazilian friend - sold me the ticket!!!! For face value!!!!
The fact that he had beaten me to the punch earlier in the day for a pair of tickets is old news...bygones. His parents taught him how to share. Such a nice boy. When I met him at the venue I was going to go to the standing room near the bar but he said that he had a table and I could sit with him! Awesome! But this seat was FAN.TAS.TIC. I was literally at the foot of Sara's piano!!! She was so great I gave her the double thumbs up after Fairytale and she gave them back to me. I kind of feel that she was showing some good love to my table of friendly strangers. In addition to my new buddy from craigslist our 4 person table was filled up with pinkscute22 and her friend too. Long story short. The world is small and the music gods wanted this foursome sitting at this table. I am in love with the new songs Gonna Get Over You and Free Ride. If these songs are any indication of the feel of the next album then it will be a no-brainer what I will be buying on Tuesday of that week. The changed up arrangement on Come Round Soon....awesomeness. She covered the same U2 song, I Still Haven't Found What I Am Looking For and a Ray Charles cover, Goodbye Song. I love her arrangement of U2. It is very southern sweet. I also have to admit that I was so close that I am still not sure that Javier was there. He might have been behind the huge giant piano in front of my face. Just kidding. I bought him and the rest of the band a shot so I know they were there. Only one bummer of the whole night. I have ALWAYS met the performer after a show @ Joe's Pub. ALWAYS. But tonight wasn't going to happen. We waited for about 45 minutes and then they kicked us out of the venue. After my experience of waiting until 2am to meet her back in April - I was not interested in a marathon wait so I bailed. I don't understand why she didn't come out to meet the 15 people waiting for her. It would have taken her 15-20 minutes and earned her stellar people props. It takes away nothing from the performance it just makes no sense. Bygones. I may go back tomorrow and see if I can get a single ticket again. Here is my first ever attempt at pictures. My brother bought me a camera and this was the test case. I will say that I was so close it was uncomfortable to take pics - like standing right up in someone's grill and saying "CHEESE!!"

Wow!!! I just got home and am more than exhausted, but I have to say that was one of the most amazing Sara shows I have ever been to! She was hilarious as
usual and so energetic tonight and of course her voice was amazing! I ended up literally about a foot in front of her piano as you'll see from the pics.
I'm so bummed though, because my camera battery died and I wasn't able to get as much as I wanted.
I have 2 quick videos... Video One: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ImPPUGfBQSc One is Sara talking and taking a shot of whiskey. About three songs into the show she told the audience that if anyone had an extra shot of whiskey she would take it as long as they didn't put a rufie in it. ha. So of course two songs later there were several shots of whiskey being passed to the stage. So that's the first video. Video Two: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k-mFCqrcJgs The second one is a few moments of the new song "gonna get over you." I was super sad when my camera died. The picture and the sound was awesome since we were so close! My roomate did get video of the U2 cover, so hopefully I can add that later! For now, enjoy!!

Erin! I'm so glad you were able to find a ticket to see Sara! I know how bummed you were when the shows near you sold out so fast. I can't wait to see
her in a couple weeks! I'll have to listen to the new songs later.

OK - pinkscute22's last picture has me with my beer toasting Sara. That really shows how close we were.
Lisa - you are going to have a smile from ear to ear. Sara is extremely talkative and audience participation is so easy. We almost got a second song in the encore because someone asked for it but Sara couldn't remember the whole song. |

Wow! Amazing photos! I'm glad you guys had such a good time! I'm so psyched to see her in Chicago.
Can anybody offer more details on the set list? I'm bringing along a friend who isn't as big a fan and I'm trying to familiarize her with the songs she might hear. |

Set list from NY:
Goodbye Song (Ray Charles Cover) on Monday & I'm On Fire (Bruce Springsteen Cover) On Wednesday Fairytale Free Ride (New Song) - my comment: awesomeness. First lyric sounds like Stop and Stare by One Republic. One Sweet Love Come Round Soon Vegas Bottle It Up Love Song Gonna Get Over You (New Song) - my comment: Sounds like it could be a lead single off her next album. Very catchy. Many The Miles Still Haven't Found What I Am Looking For (U2 cover) Gravity She changed up the musical arrangement for a couple of the songs - Come Round Soon and Love Song. One more comment from last night's show....someone in the audience asked her when the next album is coming out and she basically had no idea. They are still writing and when this tour is over they will go back in the studio. e.t.a - I have been informed that Goodbye Song is not a Ray Charles Cover but rather a song that Sara wrote before Little Voice. She mentioned Ray during the intro and I guess I heard it wrong. Thank you to my copy editor!

Is that really the whole setlist? Wow that's short. No Morningside, Love on the Rocks, or City? Or are those just the songs you remember off hand?

Abby - that is the entire set list. I actually got the set list on Monday night and wanted to try and have Sara sign it but that didn't happen. Maybe Sara
will play longer sets when Tony is not opening up?
I think she mentioned using this small venue tour as a way to test out new music. 2 new songs and 2 covers means that some songs have to be removed. On Monday night she was willing to attempt a song someone yelled from the audience (actually they were sitting at her behind and just mentioned it) but she couldn't remember the whole song. Are you seeing her in Chicago? I would suggest having a song name ready when she comes out for the encore and maybe before she plays Gravity you can persuade her to sing something else too. She is the only person on stage for the encore. |

Hmm, I'll have to think of one for Chicago. Do you remember what the person shouted at your show?

Thanks for the info, bklyn!
I will be there in Chicago. Hmmmm. If I could pick a single song, mine would probably be "Bittersweet." Or "Undertow." Or "City." Hell, I don't know. There are too many! |

Your welcome. Have fun in Chi-town. I know a whole bunch that are going to that show so it should be real fun.
And I don't remember the name of the song that she attempted to play. |

I would love to hear Undertow or her cover of A-ha's Take on Me (it was free to download on her website years ago). She probably doesn't remember the
latter though.

Ahhhh, I love her version of "Take On Me." So good! I love the "neee-eeee--eeedless to say..." part. And her version of Joni Mitchell's
"The River" is lovely as well. But I'm so completely DONE with winter, so I vote for no songs that mention Christmas or snow or anything like
that.

Hey Erin, I'm glad you got to go see her with all your ticket trouble
ETA: I think the word "Song" is to Sara B titles as "Gone" is to Kelly titles. haha. Love Song, Winter Song, Goodbye Song (Since U Been Gone, Gone, Already Gone).
