I could most likely be bombarded and hated for saying this, but I have to know if there is anyone else out there who feels the same way. I feel that Kelly sold out with this album. I feel like the lyrics just arent there this time around. I had a hard time recognizing the kelly I love in most of the songs. She just sounded like every other pop artist out there. And yes that aspect will most likely sell this album, but Kelly worked so hard to get her way with My December, it's a shame she followed it up with this album. your opinion but i dont know how you can say she sold her self out she obviously wouldnt put out anything she didnt want to. She picks the songs , and also loves this album. She didnt sell out or anything, she stayed true to what she loves making music that she loves and she loves this album just because you dont write on every song doesnt mean she sold herself out. Thats my opinion if kelly loves the music on the labum she didnt sell out cause liek she said ALL I EVER WANTED was to make music

She sold herself out in the way that she sounds like every other pop star on this album. My December formed her voice as more of an artist with a voice. It just seems that this is a money grab from her label. I'm not saying that Kelly doesn't like it, bc I believe that Kelly wouldn't put out anything she wasn't proud of. It's just a shame it was this album.

I'm going to respectfully disagree with you and go one better and ask you which pop star you think could pull of Cry, Already Gone, Whyyawannabringmedown, Ready, Impossible, and I want you all on the same album? Kelly's TRUE talent lies in her versatility. Kelly doesn't have just "one" voice so to say she "found her voice" on My December really is to miss the point of kelly as an artist.

No offense to My December but to act like that was the be all and end all for Kelly is just a tad overdramatic. It was one album, it took a different turn than Breakaway and now AIEW is taking a different turn than MD. I'm not sure how happy I'd be as a kelly fan if she put out another album like My December, just like if she'd have put out another breakaway I wouldn't have been happy about it.

For me, the best thing about Kelly is that I now have four albums from her and I could listen to all four back to back and it would be like I was hearing four different artists but the beauty is I don't have to pick and choose a different artist depending on the style I music I like....Kelly sings them all and does so brilliantly.

Oh I completely agree. At first, though I wont lie, i thought the same thing.. in some songs. IDNHU I just am catching on to. Its very pop its very ready to sell, but who the hell can hit that bridge note so effortlessly and pull out of it without going all vocal gymnastics on us. The difference between this album and MD I find is the album isnt as raw as MD. We could turn AIEW's mixing around and make it just as raw without so many effects, but thats the flavor of this record. And thats ok. We do have 4 very different albums. This ones mainstream, cool! We still have that one little 17 tracked era that reminds us of what an artist is and what they can do both vocally and within the composition of the song either lyrically or otherwise. I agree with having so many styles. Its like Kelly is more and more of what I listen to consistantly. I can rock the hell out and blow the windows off (BTHE, Hear Me, All I Ever Wanted, Long Shot), or mellow out (Be Still) and feel dramatic (Maybe), even dance like no ones watching (IICHY). Thats freakin awesome! What will determine if Kelly becomes a sell out (and we know she wont, she does what she wants!), is No. 5. How much more say will she get? Maybe we'll get that dirty country album next time! A mix of blues and country rock with that Chivas-like attitude that fits in with rock, pop and perhaps a mainstream country. Or another pop rock album and by that time mainstream will have moved on to new trends.

AIEW was the album to please the label and hey she picked out the songs! Wrote half of them. Its just different. and "different takes time for people to catch on." Ive also never liked an artist that has put out a different record everyyyy time... three albums ok maybe something could be repeated, 4 albums tho... that hasnt happened to me yet.
