With a slew of TV appearances this week, including American Idol tonight and Saturday Night Live unh, um, Saturday night, her first album is currently looking on target to sell between 200-225k, but we reserve the right to hedge our bets based on how the tubular explosion plays out.

Lonevity is much much more important than 1 week of sales, anyway. I still predict they are a little on the low end so if I go with 250 - 275k then it really isn't so bad at all.

Posts: 6088 (03/11/09 12:51 PM) More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	Really glad for the Idol and SNL promo this week, because I was disappointed in KC's album display in my area when I dropped by a couple of stores last night on the way home from work. No pics and she wasn't on the front display with other new releases. Carrie and Hudson were which was really odd. I checked Best Buy, Wal-mart, K-mart, Target and Borders since they're all pretty much on the same street. U2 had some major displays going on with a ton of racks near the registers and in front of the electronic section. Also, I was hoping they would have some copies of MD, but none of my stores did. Wal-mart didn't even have the Soundcheck poster up anymore. They also didn't have the "as advertised" sale price anywhere near the CD. All her albums had the full price listed, whereas the others had sale stickers on the front. I also have only heard one radio advert for the album, which was yesterday and nothing since. I hope they pick up the advertising promo. Maybe it's just my area . . .

Big opening numbers are possible as we've seen other artists do it very recently. Damn, I wish that Amazon would have done the $3.99 deal like Taylor Swift and U2 got. I still wish she would have had more opening day promo besides one unadvertised promo spot on GMA. I just hope that her Idol appearance helps, and HDD will adjust accordingly. Oh well...it's not where you start. It's where you finish.

She's never even broke 300K opening week. The economy sucks, the album leaked almost two weeks early and she's coming off a less than amazing album (saleswise). I believe I remember that HDD predicted Breakaway to debut with around 200k. Then Luke informed us RCA's numbers showed her around 250k, which is what she did sell. And these were holiday sales in 2004. Her steady radio play/promo and steady sales are what pushed her over 6 mil. She went months selling in the 30k-60k range. Four factors are affecting this number: it ain't the holidays, the economy, the leak and she has not yet had any TV promo except GMA which was a rush job. If the label can stand behind Jordin with her much lower debut debut and push her over 1 mil then there is no reason this time around (with Clive out of the mix) they won't do the same for a proven star. Besides, Already Gone should be a smash IMO. We'll see.
