Back from my unsuccessful Storm Chase in Nebraska so I have time to talk about a possible Tropical System, sitting on 3 tornadoes this season. 93L is being monitored for possible tropical development over the next several days. The system is currently moving over the Yucatan region of Mexico and will be over land for the next 24-36 hours. However, if this system can survive the the passage over the Yucatan Peninsula, conditions are favorable for development of this system since shear will be light and water temperatures are plenty warm. If 93L survives, I believe we will have our first named Tropical Storm of the year so the entire Gulf Coast should monitor this situation for possible development over the next several days. The only major model that develops this system right now is the GFDL model, it makes it a strong Tropical Storm and moves it into the Tampa Bay area.

This system will be monitored for possible development if it can survive the passage of the Yucatan Peninsula.

I'm back since the tropics are FINALLY heating up.

Tropical Depression 2 has regenerated over the Central Atlantic Ocean this evening with winds of 35mph. This system has the chance to become our first named system of the year tomorrow as it moves off to the west. Wind shear along the projected path will be moderate, but water temperatures along the projected path of the system will slowly rise so development looks likely. A hurricane is not out of the question. The steering of this system will be the Upper Level High to the North. Recurvature out to sea doesn't look too high right now before it approaches the SE United States. People along the SE coast should watch this system VERY closely.

Another area of concern, and in my book BIG CONCERN, is the area of disturbed weather behind Tropical Depression 2, invest 90L. This system is right around or just below Tropical Depression status. 90L will continue to move off to the west and approach the Carribean Islands come middle of next week. Conditions along the path look great for development and it looks likely this system will develop. 90L has a great shot to become a Hurricane and the models scare me since they are all in great agreement on bringing this system either through the Islands into the Gulf of Mexico or landfall along the SE Coast. The Upper High to the North should prevent this system from moving out to sea.

People along the coast should really start to monitor this situation. I'll be back with updates!
