Seen a lot of negative press today about Invisible Children, the charity behind this and I suppose that is understandable given it's high-volume of attention it's been getting the last couple of weeks.

I think the key issue being missed here in this campaign isn't about buying frivolous necklaces off websites, connecting through apps and supporting this charity. While giving is good the key issue is to raise awareness of Joseph Kony and you can do that in many ways, most of which don't involve giving money to this website or that website and such.

I haven't taken a history class in about 10 years, but I remember ever so briefly hearing about this guy when I was in school quite a long time ago. Very briefly. I don't recall hearing about him via any news outlet or on the TV since. My parents didn't know who he was until last night and it took me a while to remember what this guy was all about until I watched the video.

I just hope the key message isn't lost. The aim is to make this guy famous and we can do that just by spreading awareness. I posted the video on my Facebook timeline last night and I've seen several of my friends post it today, and their friends... etc. Let's hope this works.
