I'm confused about the usage of the word 'date'. To me, that word is used for when you're not in a relationship yet and you just go out with someone you like. But apparently I'm wrong, haha. Or it's only used differently in my own language.
When the word 'date' is used as a verb (as in "I'm dating this guy"), I would say that yes, it would apply to a non-relationship status.  You're just testing the waters with someone you like, and haven't determined that it's anything serious yet.  However, if you use the word 'date' as a noun (as in "I'm going on a date"), it could apply to any type of situation.  Married couples go on dates, and single people go on dates.

That's how the term is generally used by Americans at least.

Thanks a lot for explaining!! It all makes sense now smiley: smile

You're welcome.  Glad I could clear it up for you!
