I actually thought last night wasn't as bad as it could've been (talking about the Queen songs, here), but the second half of the show was definitely better than the first half. I think really only Elise nailed her Queen song - everyone else was just okay or worse. But the second songs for everyone were pretty great. LOVED Skylar's performance - she gave that song a more feminine feel (originally Jason Aldean's) and really got me excited to hear her debut album. I'm now totally behind her winning - I really think she's the whole package. I was excited for Phillip to sing a DMB song, and while I love the original version of the song (it was 'The Stone' for anyone wondering), and it's one of the 'sacred' DMB songs among their fans, his performance left something to be desired. I wish he had picked a single of theirs to sing that more people would've recognized, or that he picked a more upbeat, less obscure, album track if that's the route he wanted to go. Elise's last song was also just okay. I thought Hollie nailed 'The Climb' and was so happy for her to get a standing ovation from the judges, even if they are giving out WAY too many of them this season. I remember back in the first season, I think only Tamyra got a standing O (for 'A House Is Not a Home') from all the judges. I could be forgetting one or two though...but it used to mean more to get a standing O. I mean Paula wouldn't even give 'Touchdown' praises as often as these judges are handing out standing O's. And by the way, there's no way every single performance of Joshua's deserves a standing O. I could understand one for 'Ready for Love', but I hated his first song - partially because he added an 'uh' sound before and after EVERY SINGLE LINE. It drove me crazy.

Ideally for me, the finale would be Skylar winning over Phillip, but I really just don't want Jessica or Joshua in the finale and I'll be happy. I think Jessica might be in the bottom 3 this week...probably Elise or Hollie going home though. Phillip could be in trouble too. This is getting harder and harder to predict.
