I feel like Jessica is getting into Joshua and Jennifer Hudson (during Idol) territory now, where she over-sings everything and sounds like she's shouting more than singing the big notes. I didn't like Jessica last night, although I do see a TON of potential in her. I didn't like Jennifer Hudson at all when she was on Idol - she would always try to sing so big that she sounded like she was almost shouting every song (at least to me). Since Idol, though, Jennifer has really learned the art of singing and knowing when/how to go for the big notes and when some restraint is necessary. I think Jessica is better than Jennifer might have been when she was on Idol, but I can't say for sure.

I surprisingly LOVED Joshua's version of You Raise Me Up. It was perfect - he turned it into a Gospel song, and it worked. The second song was good too, but it didn't wow me.

Phillip could've picked a better 'California' song, even though CCR fits his style fairly well. That performance didn't really do anything for me. Volcano was AMAZING!!! Christine - you missed out by skipping it. It was, in my opinion, his best performance so far. His voice just melted into the song and was just perfect. It was a beautiful song with a great voice paired with it. I hope his post-Idol album is in this vein of music. Just amazing.

Hollie was great on Faithfully, but disappointed on I Can't Make You Love Me. She didn't connect with the song, and it just didn't work like I hoped it would. I'm afraid she's going home tonight.
