Missed tonight's show, but how dare they even let an Osmond advance to Hollywood, when this guy has been performing with the Osmonds' "second generation" group in Branson for years.

If Ken Warwick says one more time that the show was never limited to undiscoveed talent that has never had a recording contract or does not have lots of performance experience, I'm going to scream. THe retort is, why should it not be limited? What is better? Watching someone like Kelly, who had some experience but met the initial cruel Hollywood fate win; watching Ruben, a wedding singer from Birmingham win, and his epic battle with Clay Aiken -- or, watching the comeback of Joanna Pacitti getting her fourth or fifth chance at stardom?

Was Taylor Vaifanua shown tonight?

FYI, Pop Idol 1 in Britain cut Joss Stone.

The thing with who gets let through to Hollywood and who gets rejected sometimes has nothing to do with talent, but with what the producers think makes "good TV", as "Idol" is, first and foremost, a reality TV show.

So that the guy with the doo-rag who sang "Jumper" was good enough to make it H'Wood, and probably would have, had he not started blubbering and fretting before his audition. The producers, I think, decided that it would make better TV and create better buzz if they cut him now and showed his post-audition blubbering.

I've said this several times, but I am certain that had Kelly auditioned for "Idol" in any other season, she never would have been sent to Hollywood. The first season involved less "casting" than any of the others, so that it was somewhat easier for a contestant to break through on sheer talent, without "pimping", gimmicks or quirks.
