Kelly Clarkson's new record…
By jenniferarmourSo a good friend of mine is working on Kelly Clarkson's album right now. (Also a grammy nominee for "Bleeding Love") I'm really looking forward to this record. Big time. Now, this is the one particular girl I get pretty star-struck about.
Anyway, I don't know what it is about Kelly Clarkson…There's a lot of great vocalists out there, whom I love a lot, but, she is just totally, totally cool to me. Like I said, I'm extremely excited about her album coming out and I can't wait to hear it. Look how cute she looks at the boards… (Yeah, this DEFINITELY counts as star-struck)

Q & A Interview: Dameon of Aranda
http://hangout.altsounds.com/features/105428-q-and-a-interview-dameon-of-aranda.html
Kelly Clarkson picked up a couple of your songs for her new album, including her title track 'All I Ever Wanted.' How did that happen?
She stumbled on our stuff through Sam Waters. She didn't know it was on our album until after she recorded it. She called me about 2 weeks ago to make sure it's still ok. She sells much more than we do, so obviously it's fine! [laughs] So, it's just a stroke of luck for us to get it. For it to be the title track is just the icing on the cake.
Have you heard her version of the songs yet?
Yes, I have. I played on her versions, actually. I did guitar and sang background vocals. That doesn't hurt the ol' resume. [laughs] Her version of 'All I Ever Wanted' is really great. That is the poppiest song we have on our album and it fit her really well.
Is this the first time you have sold off songs to another artist?
Yeah. We tried for 3 or 4 years, but this is the first time it ever stuck. That whole world of people who don't write there own songs... it is hard to get into that circle. It's a tight knit group. We got lucky. I think it's a great song and good for her, but there are a lot of great songs out there. So, thank you, God!

Your last album, 'My December,' was quite a personal affair. How would you describe the new album, 'All I Ever Wanted'? It's kind of like a roller coaster, because 1) I'm a woman, but 2) I love that ride through an album because it tells a story. But there's some really fun stuff on here that I've never done before -- like this one song I did with Ryan Tedder from OneRepublic called 'If I Can't Have You.' It's very like Eurythmics meets the Killers -- very different for me. It's a lot sexier. People think it's so funny because they know I'm not that girl. Then there's other stuff like 'Cry,' which is the most personal song on the album and is about betrayal.

Popjustice Interview:
"I'm not a man and I don't claim to be"
Straight down to the facts with Kelly Clarkson...
When Kelly Clarkson was over in London a couple of weeks ago she set aside a few minutes for a chat with Popjustice in a posho hotel 'suite'.
When we arrived she was wiping her hands on things and moaning about the fact that the dye in her new pair of jeans had rubbed off and was causing her some distress.
Unbelievable scenes, viewers. Unbelievable scenes.
So if these were your own cream leather sofas, you wouldn't wear those jeans on them, would you? You'd think, 'no. I'm not going to sit down in these jeans. That colour's going to come right off'.
Well I wouldn't have cream-coloured sofas.
They're not practical, really.
I like dark.
How dark?
My whole house is really dark. Although I do have some brightly coloured rooms. My orange room is my favourite.
What mood are you in when you go in there?
Honestly, I don't really think about it.
Oh.
But the room I do most writing in is very dark; it's tiny and away from the rest of the house.
Is there a window in that room?
Yes.
What can you see out of it?
All my land, and ponds, and animals. I have seven horses, four miniature horses, and eight dogs.
Do you ever line all the animals up according to size, from smallest on the left to biggest on the right?
No.
Why not? You could start with the dogs, then move up to the miniature horses, then the full-sized horses.
They would never comply with that. They all have very different personalities. I love them.
Now, we've been given six tracks from your new album to listen to. Does that mean that the other ones are rubbish?
The other ones just haven't been mixed yet.
Sometimes you get album samplers sent through and they've got four or five tracks on them, and the reason for that is that those are the only good ones.
Oh no. Not with this one. We're just teasing you. There's one track on the album that you won't have heard - it's so good, it's like Eurythmics meets The Killers meets Garbage. I did that one with Ryan Tedder. We love all the same influences, the same bands. It was fun to get in the studio and meet a male version of me.
What would a male version of you look like?
My brother.
What do men not understand about women?
I don't know - I'm not a man and I don't claim to be. I don't want to even begin to get in men's heads.
Now then. The album artwork. What's going on?
It's my 'super hero' picture. I have super powers, I'm telling you.
To be honest, it looks like you're about to flash your boobs.
I have a full shirt on.
What were you standing in front of when that picture was taken? What was so horrible that you had to Photoshop it out and replace with that backround?
I was standing in front of a green screen.
Do this background was the plan all along?
Our whole thing was that we wanted it to be colourful; we wanted it to look like candy. Bright, colourful and fun, for fun, feisty pop songs.
Was this an attempt to react against the imagery of the last album, after it didn't sell that well?
That was a very popular album as well, I just thought it would be fun to change it up. But a lot of the new album is very fun and in-your-face. The cover photo shoot was very different to anything I've ever done. I'm biting at the chomp (??) for the next album already. It's so everyone gets the full grasp of me. It's hard to pinpoint me.
Do your fans know you as well as they think they do?
I'm changing, ever-changing, so once people think they've pinpointed you, you change. The one thing my fans love is that variety. It keeps them interested, and it keeps me interested, because I love so many genres of music. That's why I love pop music; if you're in a category, you get stuck, but with pop you can keep all the influences.
Do you find it a bit unnerving that some of your fans like absolutely everything you do? That there are people in whose eyes you can, slightly weirdly, do no wrong?
I think those people are awesome! (Guffaws) I have no problem with those people. Those are my favourites.
What's the relationship between hats and music?
Hats… And music?
Do people make better music when they're wearing hats?
Am I on Punk'd?
No Kelly it's just an interview. Clearly there might not be a relationship between hats and music. But there might be. What do you think?
I don't know - there's funky hats, there's sophisticated hats, there's conservative hats...
In the world of jazz, for example, people wear an above-average number of hats.
They totally have a fedora style in jazz. But I don't know. I'm not that deep.
What's the worst song on the album?
Umm… (Kelly's PA bellows "THEY'RE ALL GREAT" across the room)
What's the best song on the album?
I would say 'All I Ever Wanted.' It's different to anything else on the radio right now.
What's your favourite dinosaur?
I would go for the long-kneck one. The vegetaraian. (Kelly's PA bellows "THE BRONTOSAURUS" across the room)
Why?
I'm a vegetarian.
Thank you, Kelly Clarkson.

"My Life Would Suck," written by Dr. Luke, Max Martin and Claude Kelly, and produced by Dr. Luke and Max Martin, has exploded at radio and at iTunes where it hit #1 in less than 24 hours from release. "All I Ever Wanted" is currently in the final mixing phase (with our friend, the amazing Serban Ghenea) and features production from the aforementioned Luke and Max, as well as from Howard Benson, Ryan Tedder, Sam Watters & Louis Biancianello with Dre & Vidal, as well as from Kelly herself. The album was A&R'd by Pure Tone's Pete Ganbarg.

Very little new information about the Kelly Clarkson album, but you can listen to the single in full

We went to listen to the Kelly Clarkson album last night. Then it turned out we weren't allowed to write about any of the tracks.
We had a chat with Kelly though. We asked her whether the seven tracks we'd been played were the only good ones on the album, and whether the other ones were rubbish. She said no the other ones weren't rubbish, they just weren't mixed yet. She was wearing some brand new blue jeans and the palms of her hands were blue because the colour had come off. When she took her jeans off last night we bet her legs were blue as well. More scinitillating news from this chat will be available soon in the form of an 'interview'.
In the meantime, Kelly's single 'My Life Would Suck With You' is doing the rounds on the internet and, as we exclusively revealed last week, it's amazing.

The reason your station is getting it at *exactly* 5pm on Tuesday is because RCA is sending out a digital download of the song that will "activate" and be available to us at radio at 5pm on Tuesday (which I mentioned a couple days ago in this thread). The hard copies of the single are going to be shipped Monday for arrival at stations Wedesday/Thursday.
ALL stations around the country (again, just the US) will be getting it at the exact same time. Expect some (SOME) stations to play it right away and others to wait until Wednesday. It's actually smart of RCA to send it out at 5pm because many stations, especially on the East coast will have their staff gone for the day and won't be around to get the single until the next day. Your best bet for stations to play it on Tuesday would be West Coast stations.
Now, there's also a possibility that some "hand selected" stations may get the song early to premiere that day, but I can't confirm that yet.

Kelly Clarkson's brand new single 'My Life Would Suck Without You' will hit your radios next Wednesday, January 14th
http://www.sonymusic.com.au/news/details.do?newsId=20030829006144
So what's Kelly Clarkson's 'My Life Would Suck Without You' actually like, then?
Story filed Tuesday, 06 January 2009 ![]()
As our Twitter followers already know, we went to Sony HQ earlier today. Our mission was to have a little listen to the new Kelly Clarkson single, 'My Life Would Suck Without You'.
What's it like? Well, you cannot escape the fact that the intro is so similar to 'Since U Been Gone' you will probably think you are indeed listening to 'Since U Been Gone'. Lyrically the song does actually lend itself to thoughts of being a sort of 'Since U Been Gone Part Two' and one could, at a push, see it picking up that song's story four years on with Kelly realising that despite the earlier song's defiant howl of independence she does, in fact, want her ex back. 'My Life Would Suck Without You' is about the fella returning tail between legs ("guess this means you take back what you said before, like how much you wanted anyone but me") and a relationship starting up again and being quite jolly in spite of all the previous nonsense.
The chorus goes "we belong together now, forever united here somehow, you got a piece of me and honestly my life would suck without you". Except it's not just "my life would suck without you", it's "my life (MY LIFE!) would suck (WOULD SUCK!) without you". "I know that I've got issues but you're pretty messed up too" is another good line; we also like the middle eight bit with "being with you is so dysfunctional, I really shouldn't miss you, but I can't let you go".
It is structured like this:
1. Long intro with 'Since U Been Gone' guitary noise.
2. Vocal joins guitary nose with drumbeat.
3. Song explodes into chorus.
4. Song pulls back into second verse.
5. Chorus
6. Middle eight: everything drops out, 'Since U Been Gone' guitar noise starts up underneath vocal, drumbeats and Since U Been Gone guitar noise lead into big whooshing noise into...
7. Chorus which leads to hilarious 80s rolling synth drumfill thing (we don't know what it is but you'll know what we mean when you hear it) which leads to...
8. Final chorus, sudden end, guitar noise, 'fin'.
There is no bridge. NO BRIDGE! Production is halfway between 'Since U Been Gone' and Pink's 'So What', with some drum machines chucked in. The song is three minutes and thirty two seconds long - only two seconds away from the Optimum Pop Duration - and comes in at about 145bpm. This BPM means that nightclub rotation will inspire more in the way of hands in the air/pointing/shouting than proper dancing. The song is better than anything Kelly did before 'Since U Been Gone' and it's also better than anything she's done since 'Since U Been Gone', so it should keep people happy. It is a pop song.

I'm hearing that the name of Kelly's album is definitely NOT Masquerade. This is from her publicist…
'My Life Would Suck Without You'
Guess this means you're sorry
You're standing at my door
Guess this means you take back
What you said before
Like how much you wanted
Anyone but me
Said you'd never come back
But here you are again
Cuz we belong together now
Forever united here somehow
You got a piece of me
And honestly
My life would suck without you
Maybe I was stupid for telling you goodbye
Maybe I was wrong for tryin' to pick a fight
I know that I've got issues
But you're pretty messed up too
Anyway, I found out I'm nothing without you
Cuz we belong together now
Forever united here somehow
You got a piece of me
And honestly
My life would suck without you
Being with you is so dysfunctional
I really shouldn't miss you, but I can't let go
Oh yeah
Cuz we belong together now
Forever united here somehow
You got a piece of me
And honestly
My life would suck without you

Hi, I have heard Kelly Clarkson is covering a couple of your songs? Is this true? I've never heard of ya until I heard this and your music is awesome, and I could totally hear Kelly singing All I Ever Wanted!

Kelly Clarkson, "Masquerade," (RCA) March.
The "American Idol" winner's last album, "My December" in 2007, was supposed to be the singer's big personal artistic statement, filled with raw rock songs that Ms. Clarkson wrote largely on her own, without input from the hitmeisters whose tunes made her a star. The album yielded only middling sales, however, along with a canceled concert tour and a humiliating fight with label head Clive Davis over the direction of her music. For her fourth album, Ms. Clarkson is "in a period where she wants to take on the pop world again," says RCA general manager Tom Corson. "She's ready, and she's got all the right support." That includes the input of writer-producers like Max Martin, Howard Benson and Lukasz "Dr. Luke" Gottwald, who were behind some of Ms. Clarkson's biggest pop hits.

My friend who interns for Mike Ruiz gave me some info on the album cover today. According to him, the photo that's being used will have some sort of an illustration on top of it... as will all of the promos. He says that Mike mentioned the songs are unlike anything Kelly has ever done but that it's a great kind of different.
From Kellys Blog:11-21:
anyway, just waiting for all the songs for the new album to be mixed and mastered. it's pretty much taking forever but i want it done right so i'm not gonna rush them ….too much

Interesting TidBits
- They do not consider MD a flop because it did what they planned.
- They referred to Kelly doing a great job on the A&R work. (Which I thought was a very interesting statement)
- They believe it will be huge (this was not said by someone trying to sell something)
- Planning highest level marketing blitz

hey guys, my friend works for a radio station in Tulsa (106.9 khits) and he just informed me that he spoke to a national rep about Kelly's single.
he said "they will be pushing a new track for Kelly in January". He also said he would get a copy of the track the last week of December.
he confirmed the title to be "My Life Would Suck Without You" and he said it will start playing on radio January 13th.

If you get Sundance OnDemand, it's on there to watch and if you do watch it and don't want to sit through it all, the MLWSWY part is exactly a half hour in.
It was just a tiny little clip of the song, but they played it over a longer piece but were talking over it so you really can't hear it very well. They were talking about how it was a very rough demo with dummy lyrics that they were playing and once they decide who they're going to pitch the song to, Luke and Max will go back and craft the lyrics for that specific person.

Here's something cool.. I was doing some detective work and found a song on ASCAP called "Can We Go Back" with Shanna Crooks listed as a writer. I did some searching on the song and it seems it had a clip online and some lyrics which I believe were both taken down recently. I was talking to xwisitxtreme about this and he messaged Shanna asking if this was the song of hers that Kelly recorded, and she just responded this morning saying: "You are quite the detective! That is correct. My fingers are still crossed right now hoping the song makes the cut. Still anxiously waiting to hear. Her version of it is killer though so I'm pretty confident at this point. "
I personally hope the song makes the album, as I love some of Shanna's other songs on her page. You can view the song on ASCAP here
Please don't start messaging Shanna like crazy about the song though, if it makes the album we'll hear about it soon enough. I don't want Shanna to get bombarded because I've posted this here.

Frow EW Hollywod Insider
Kelly Clarkson producer says her new single could be out by December
Nov 12, 2008, 09:42 PM | by Shirley Halperin
Kelly Clarkson, the first and arguably most successful American Idol winner, announced on her blog in late October that she has finished recording her fourth album. And while no release date or title has been set, producer Dr. Luke (real name: Lukasz Gottwald), who has worked with Avril Lavigne, Britney Spears, Katy Perry, and, most recently, Weezer, tells EW.com that a new single could be out as soon as December -- and that it will arrive without a hint of country twang, as some had speculated.
If anything, the song, by virtue of its title, "My Life Would Suck Without You," and the production team behind it, could be seen as a Part B to Clarkson's monster 2004 hit, "Since U Been Gone." As it turns out, Dr. Luke says he started developing the new song with pop maestro and "Since U Been Gone" collaborator Max Martin years ago. "After 'Since U Been Gone,' we wrote all these songs for Kelly," Dr. Luke says. "This one, which I think is the first single, we had the chorus a while ago and added the verse more recently. They were going to have it out on Nov. 20, but it just got too late. So now they're thinking Dec. 8 for a worldwide release, but I wouldn't be surprised if that ends up being early January." (A rep for Clarkson says the single has yet to be chosen.)
With a new team in place (including manager Narvel Blackstock, Reba McEntire's husband) and the drama of My December behind her, Clarkson exuded nothing but confidence in the studio, Dr. Luke says. "It's sick. She sings a song in two hours and kills it. You're just, like, 'holy s---.' She has powerful lungs. She's like the Lance Armstrong of vocal chords."

It's updated on ASCAP!! "My Life Would Suck Without You" under Kelly's performer page. As a lot of us speculated, it is written with Max & Dr. Luke as well as Claude Kelly.
You can view it on Kelly's ASCAP hereNow that it's confirmed that Dr. Luke is involved on the album hopefully we can all just hope for the best music and trust Kelly

To perform, or not to perform...
Current mood:excited
That has been the question.
snip
I made a decision a little over a year ago that I would just focus on writing the best songs possible for my album and do nothing else. Just write until it was time to record. Well…haaa…That idea is MUCH easier said than done.
It has been an amazing 12 months for me. I've written over 50 songs, many of which i've shared with you here on myspace. I bought my first house. Traveled a ton. Gotten the chance to collaborate with songwriter's that have written some of my favorite songs. Sang on Avenged Sevenfold's album. Kelly Clarkson recorded one of my songs. No that wasn't a typo. She did! Finally heard her version for the first time while out in NY last week…I can humbly say it beats my version. (More to come on that). ;o)

songs, and she sent him some of her stuff too, so that makes me have more hope that some of her own stuff will make the cd.
