'Idol's' Allison inspired by Kelly Clarkson
LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- Allison Iraheta's "American Idol" run ended Wednesday, but the 17-year-old says she's proud that she was the last girl standing in the competition.
Allison Iraheta says the atmosphere among the contestants is "like a family." Iraheta was eliminated from "Idol" this week after receiving the fewest amount of viewer votes, trimming the contestant pool to three: Danny Gokey, Kris Allen and Adam Lambert. The Los Angeles native was the lone female on the Fox program for two weeks after Lil Rounds got the boot April 22, but she says there was nothing but love between her and the guys. "People thought we'd be head-to-head the whole time and just fighting," Iraheta said Friday. "We were just really like a family." "It got to a point where we could just mess with each other and help each other out." Iraheta would not take a guess as to who she thinks will wear the "American Idol" crown at the show's finale this month but did say she had a blast singing with fellow rocker Adam Lambert during their performance Wednesday of Foghat's "Slow Ride." "That was, I have to say, on of the funnest moments I've had on the show," Iraheta recalled. "Offstage, me and him are really close. He's like my older brother." The teenager also said she and Lambert may reprise the song during the "American Idol Top 10 Tour" when it kicks off this summer.
Iraheta says she began singing in Spanish as a child and then moved into
hip-hop music and finally settled into rock. She has "stuck with" the genre and cites a previous "American Idol" winner, who is
also known for her rock style, as an inspiration.
"I definitely have to say Kelly Clarkson ... opened the door for all of us," Iraheta said of the very first "Idol" winner. "She has been a definite inspiration to all of us and definitely to me." |

Yo, Allison fans! She's gonna be interviewed on Idol Tonight on the TV Guide channel today.
There is also a sneak peak of her EW.com Idolatry interview at the end of their last video. Slezak gave her roses. Aww. Her reaction is soooooo CUTE. |

When will they put up that idolatry interview? I can't wait to see it.
I love that she says Kelly was an inspiration too because on the idol site she just put Fantasia and Carly as favorite idols. Last night was very boring without her! |

I think Allison is a lot like Kelly in that she is pretty much going to compliment everybody. In one interview she named David Cook as a favorite. In another
they asked her to choose between David Cook and Kelly. So she said, "Kelly Cook". haha
I think her true favorite artist ever is Pink since she consistently names her. |

I hope she gets a record contract and has a hit song that gets played a lot on the radio. Also, I hope that they give her songs that fit her voice, and fit her
style. Like that song that made it's way on the internet a while back, forgot the name of it, but I know it was really good. Yeah, she should have been in
the Top 3, but oh well. I really think she's going to do way better than Danny will, and he made the Top 3. I also think that she will appeal to a whole
new audience when she gets her music out there. She will be heard by other people who don't watch Idol, and they might like her.

I'm a big fan of hers and I am so so sooo bummed she got kicked off.
I hear all the time after a really talented singer gets voted off Idol that "they will be big", and "they don't need to worry", but it rarely happens. I REALLY hope that with Allison it is true, because she deserves it! |

Elisabeth101 wrote:Yeah, that's it. Varlums posted it in another thread, but I couldn't figure out what thread it was. I'm listening to it again, and it's still very good. She needs to record songs like that, because it fits her and it is very awesome. Thanks for posting it here. Now I will definitely know what thread to come to to find it, haha. |

I LOVE the Idolatry interview. Allison is one groovy chick. I love her answer about not going blonde.
The good part for Allison is that she is just about the perfect age that labels want. They want somebody that can tap into the teen market so I get the impression that they will work a little harder to make the teen singers successful. Jordin did not sell well at the beginning of her album release. But they stood behind her and promoted her to radio when they probably would have dropped a 23 year old or 28 year old, like they did Justin and Taylor. Archie isn't exactly on fire with his sales either but they are sticking by him. The other thing Allison has going for her is that her style is a perfect fit for mainstream music. Even though Jordin and Archie went farther than her in the competition I think Allison has a broader appeal than both of them. She belongs on pop radio doing pop rock songs and there is no reason in the world she shouldn't be successful if the label and management make competent decisions. Her biggest hurdle will be proper song choice so she can walk the line between her teens fans and her adult fans. It's the same thing Kelly and Pink have to do. |
