--> The Texan has just released her 4th record 'All I ever wanted' and climbed the American billboard charts from no 97 to no 1 with her
latest single 'My Life would suck without you'. Kelly Clarkson got her start by winning the 'American Idol' competition. 'We are extremely
proud to get Kelly Clarkson to perform on our stage, says Robby Gierer, project manager from'SWR3 hautnah'. 'Apart from her incredible voice, she
also captivates you with her strong charisma. It's contagious: at her concerts she has the audience on fire in no time.
The SWR3 (radio station and event organizer of the club concert) has interviewed us (Kelly Clarkson Fanclub Germany). Since the audio file is in German, most of you will have difficulties to understand. Here are the questions and a summary of the respective answers in English so you can get the gist of it.
When
and how was the fanclub founded?
In the beginning of 2006 I heard about Kelly coming to Germany. It was her first
ever full-length concert over here. So I decided I'll just get tickets and go. I won a meet & greet for that show as well, so I got the chance to see
her afterwards and we talked a little bit, also about fan sites and the fact that there is only a rather small site in Germany (which she hadn't even heard
of at that stage). So I thought I'll just venture out on my own and make it happen. Kelly needs a German fanclub! We sat down with a bunch of people, came
up with a concept and a design and the rest is history.
The fanclub seems to be really successful…
Yes, people have been showing huge interest, even in the early stages. We
literally had like 400 new members within the first few days. It took us by surprise. We didn't expect those kinds of numbers to be honest.
So what's so special about Kelly?
She is just herself and wouldn't let anyone make her change. She has a special connection with her fans and tries to maintain direct contact with them by
personal blogging, recording video messages and offering meet & greets at every single show she does. This sets her apart from other artists that are
around.
Well,
you beat me to my next question there. What's the difference between Kelly and let's say Britney Spears or Christna
Aguilera?
Well I don't know for sure, but I suppose you won't necessarily meet someone like Britney Spears personally at every one of her concerts. You will also never catch Kelly lip syncing to her songs. When Kelly's not working and you happen to meet her on the street, you will probably see her without makeup, and most of the time she doesn't care about it and is usually up for a photo either way.
How was it like, when you met Kelly for the first
time?
It was awesome! Even though it was kind of rushed, she took the time to engage with every single fan, answering question after question, accepting gifts,
signing autographs and taking photos. She would even ask people what kind of photo they'd like; a normal one, a hugging one or a crazy one or whatever. I
wish everybody could get a chance of meeting her.
So you are a real hardcore fan?
Yes, definitely! We have a handful of people in the club who would do just about anything to see her in concert and I am of course one of
them. Some examples: 2 months ago, we drove over 600 miles to Switzerland to watch a 30 minute performance of hers. In 2008, we went to her shows in Mannheim,
Cologne, Belgium and Holland. So if we can arrange it, we pretty much try to catch every concert in Europe when she's on tour.
Wow! What do you expect from the "SWR3 hautnah" show with
Kelly?
I expect an exciting and varied show. Up-beat songs like SUBG, BTHE or NA on the
one hand but also acoustic performances like BOY or BA on the other. And of course I hope to hear some of the new songs off her new album 'All I Ever
Wanted'. With the small audience at the 'SWR3 hautnah' show, it will feel as if she's performing in your living room. You've hit the nail
on the head with this concept as Kelly loves to play for smaller audiences in particular.
How did you think Kelly will like the show?
Well, she's full of energy and can be very funny as well. There have been concerts where she's invited fans on stage to sing along with her. She sometimes leaves the stage to get closer to the fans. It's just like a big party, with her band and her fans. She always says that performing live and touring is her favorite part of the job.
