I know Graham Colton personally. Just to let you guys know, he is totally psyched about this tour!! He is really excited about the chance of touring with Kelly. He is a really nice guy. I'm sure Kelly will enjoy touring with him!

Quote: well since shully seems like a nice enough person i'm going to attempt to do this, though i kinda did a review already and i'm not that great at it, so i'll work on what to expect! Expect a high energy show, where they thrive off the audience, so get on your feet, dance around, scream, act a fool...audience participation is extremely appreciated, especially during Cigarette! i'm sure i'll think of some more in a bit, i'm pretty much in a daze right now.... |

Just found this and thought people might be interested.
The Collegian5/29/05 | Variety | « Issue Home You've heard these songs before Chris Skillern, Staff writer Graham Colton and his band are about to hit the road with Kelly Clarkson. What does that mean? How do the stereotypical rock and roll types pictured on the back cover of Drive fit with the American Idol? What must this band sound like to be chosen for such a tour? Dont be too quick to make inferences. Any speculation based on those bits of information will miss the mark, as Graham Colton is no Clay Aiken, Jesse McCartney or Tyler Hilton. For a better idea of the Graham Colton Band sound, one needs only to look to some of the bands past tour-ing partners: the Wallflowers, Guster and Counting Crows. Honestly, the songs on Drive sound like the aforementioned artists, among oth-ers, before they sound like anything that could be considered a uniquely Graham Colton Band sound. But perhaps that is to be expected. Apparently, Colton, an Oklahoma City native, got his start playing acoustic gigs in Dallas. Shortly afterward, he formed the band, which was quickly snatched up by Universal Records before the group had even established much of a local follow-ing, according to some sources. They spent the next few years on tour, writing songs and discovering influences, says their bio. At such an early stage in their career, picking up some characteristics from the bands they toured with was probably inevitable. However, GCB indulge in their vari-ous influences to the exclusion of any real original sound. Every song here is perfectly polished and calculatedly catchy but sounds like its been played a million times before. Dont Give Up On Me, the bands first single and the albums first track, is stan-dard pop-rock, just like anything the bands past tourmates might release. Of course, thats not to say its a bad song. The com-position is strong, the vocals will not get on your nerves and the melodies and harmonies are designed to stick. The same can be said for every other song on the album. All, with the exception of Morning Light, are rock-ers in the same vein as Dont Give Up, and all sound strangely familiar. The song that strays the most from the bands straightforward pop-rock tendencies nevertheless strays too far in the direction of another branch of rock. With some added reverb and a dose of nasally Liam Gallagher-style vocals, Morning Light would be an Oasis song. In fact, it even includes a lyric once used by that band in its song Dont Go Away, albeit in a slightly different form: Dont go away. Say youll stay. Despite the lack of originality, Drive is not a bad listen. While the songs may not keep your attention for the entire 43 and a half minutes, they are all well-written, and there is nothing technically wrong with them. The instrumentation is tight, the vocals work well and with a little more time to grow, the Graham Colton Band might be able to produce an album with a sound it can call its own. www.utulsa.edu/collegian/...ticle=2531 |

The show at Kansas City was pretty good. They had a bit of a problem with some feedback at the beginning of "Don't Give Up On Me" but that was resolved quickly.
I thought it was kinda awkward that the lights were still up, since people were still being seated and what-not. Kinda distracted from their performance, but then the lights went down, it was back to normal..until Graham asked for the house lights to be up, so he could see everyone...then for some reason the lighting guys left 'em up forever, until Graham mentioned they could turn them down again. I think (even though most the crowd was sitting) everyone really enjoyed the guys, they probably just felt awkward standing and cheering with the lights up, and everyone starting at them. Overall they were very enthusiastic between songs, most likely just listening during since they hadn't heard any of it before, but the audience responded well when Graham had them sing the "I'll Stay..You'll Go..I'm Fine, with or without you" back to them. Both the girls in front of me, and the 2 to the right, went and bought the cd between sets ;) At the end of their set, before "Cigarette" they mentioned that they got to see Kelly's show the night before in Tulsa, and that "it is a rock show! So we gotta get you rockin!" and most the crowd stood. Then at the end of Kelly's set, as she was gettin' ready to intro her band, she shouted out "Oh! But first! Give it UP for the Graham Colton Band!! I LOVE them! *lots of cheers/screaming* Woo, sounds like they got a bunch of new fans" Which I believe is true :) |

ew to the lights still being up! it was nice and dark in tulsa! lol
i know in tulsa, no one knew if they should stand or sit, and since there was an older couple behind me and no one standing next to me, i waited to stand til Cigarette! lol unlike at dave matthews where i didn't care and me and a friend stood the entire time....something about theaters make me feel more respectful to those around me lol anyways! YAY for the crowd response and kelly love! |

I haven't seen them yet but I liked what I heard on their website. Looks like it'll be fun (And if you ask me, a great step forward when you think of past opening acts/co-headliners)
