Chapman Music Hall
Seating 2,365, Chapman Music Hall is ideally suited to accommodate opera, ballet, orchestral music, plays, meetings, lectures, films ------ virtually any popular entertainment event. The theatre has showcased the performances of world-renowned talents, as well as touring Broadway musicals such as The Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, and The Beauty and the Beast.
Our largest theatre, Chapman Music Hall reflects the inspired work of Minoru Yamasaki, architect of the World Trade Center. In addition to the Orchestra, Mezzanine and Balcony levels, the theatre is equipped with a special hydraulic orchestra pit large enough for 60 musicians. When fully raised, the pit is also perfect as a stage thrust, or, when partially lowered, for additional seating when no orchestra pit is required.
Whatever your need, our sound and lighting systems can adapt. Our computerized lighting console allows one operator to control complex and imaginative lighting effects. The multi-channel audio system is every bit as flexible, providing sound solutions to any performance requirement.
The stagehouse is equipped with an 85-foot grid and 64-line sets to facilitate and accommodate flying electrics, draperies, movie screens and a cyclorama. The operations of the hall are accomplished by experienced, professional theatre technicians.

Midland Theatre
This large movie palace was built by Thomas W. Lamb in 1927. It originally seated over 3500 patrons and was built for a staggering $4 million -- quite an amount for a theater in Kansas City in its day.
Originaly known as Loew's Midland Theatre, and part of Marcus Loew's theater empire, the theater briefly became a bowling venue in 1961 when Loew's left the theater.
In 1966, American Multi-Cinema bought the theater. A company known then for its innovations with smaller, twinned theaters now operated one of the largest movie palaces on earth.
The renamed Midland Theatre was listed on the National Registry of Historic Places in 1977 and stopped showing movies in 1981 when it became a venue for stage shows, concerts, and other peforming arts.
It remains one of the grandest movie palaces ever built in the United States and a testament to the heralded work of Thomas Lamb.

Friday, 4/8 Indianapolis, IN Murat Theatre
www.murat.com/
The Murat Centre, FORMERLY the Murat Shrine Temple, is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The building was constructed in three parts beginning in 1909 and when completed was to be one of the nations largest Masonic Shrines. It opened, with great fanfare on February 28,1910. This magnificent structure was the culmination of a dream first hatched in 1882 by five local masons and was accomplished through the studies of Arabian and Egyptian Architecture. These studies resulted in enormous towers, tiers of corbelled and pyramidal terra cotta work, abundance of copper roofing, patterned brick work, marble and stained glass windows set within arched openings of varying design. A reporter for the Indianapolis Star, referred to Indy's new shining star at it's opening as a "sight of splendor". A combination of growing Shriner membership and a growing interest in live performances dictated the need for an addition to the building in 1922. The new section nearly doubled the size of the Murat with the mighty Egyptian Room complete with colorful columns of hieroglyphics and massive chandeliers adorned with glowing busts of King Tut. This room in the twenties buzzed to the beats of Big Bands such as Glenn Miller, Guy Lombardo, and Spike Jones just to name a few of the performers.
After years of prosperity and facing a declining membership with the possibility of crumbling abandonment for Indy's granddame, a major renovation was funded through a unique partnership and the combined efforts of the City of Indianapolis, Sunshine Promotions (known now as Clear Channel Entertainment) and a group of private investors. The $11,000,000 face-lift began in August of 1995 and was completed by February 1996. The restoration project included but was not limited to increasing the theatre's seating, parking, restrooms, concession and catering facilities, as well as enhancing the caliber all stage support facilities including the installation of state-of-the-art Sound and Lighting systems. Even with all the changes the historical integrity of the building remained unchanged. All of the theatre's historic fabrics and finishes stained glass and fabulous fixtures were restored to their original splendor.
From the hieroglyphics of The Egyptian Room to the high towers and turrets of The Murat its rich history has once again become a scrupulous staple in downtown Indianapolis. The Murat Centre is "a peoples place" attracting people from all walks of life with the most diverse programming offered in the city of Indianapolis and central Indiana.

The Palace Theatre first opened its doors to the public in 1926 as a combination vaudeville house and movie theatre, part of the Keith-Albee chain. In 1929, the Palace became the RKO (Radio Keith Orpheum), which it remained until the 1970s.
Designed to resemble France's Palais de Versailles by internationally reknowned architect Thomas Lamb, who also designed the Ohio Theatre, the construction of this 2,827-seat theatre was personally supervised by vaudeville magnate Edward Albee. Great attention was paid to the hall's acoustics since performers had to be heard without amplification. The dressing room tower was organized like a small hotel complete with a "front desk," where performers picked up their room keys and mail, as well as kitchen facilities and a designated children's playroom for touring performers.

It seems as if Montreal has always had its Place des Arts, doesn't it? And yet, although the first seeds of the idea to bestow the city with a grand concert hall were initially sown back in 1878, it was only 77 years later, in 1955, that the first concrete steps were taken towards making the dream a reality. But it was finally in 1963 that Montreal's profound passion for the performing arts came to a crescendo with the official inauguration of Place des Arts.

"The center's two high spots are its two theaters. Prudential Hall is breathtakingly glamorous classical in form and spirit: four-tiered and horseshoe-shaped, glittering with light. The color scheme varies slightly from the traditional red and gold. There's red galore, but in place of gilded plaster, the tiers are faced with panels of beautiful golden wood (the) stage and auditorium have been combined into one warm, embracing room. The region has not seen as fabulous a new hall since Philip Johnson's New York State Theater opened its doors three decades ago."

Saturday, 4/30 Philadelphia, PA Tower Theatre
www.philadex.com/philadelphia/concerts/tower_theater.asp
Just one year before the Great Depression, the Tower went up in record time. The 3500 seats were installed in five days, a fact the Stone Company (the manufacturer) was very proud of. At the time of the grand opening the builder, George Kessler Co. had been a leader in theater construction for 50 years.
For over 69 years the marble palace has brought the world to 69th Street. In the 1930's and 40's with Vaudeville on the way out, movies slowly became the main attraction on 69th Street, and in the 50's and 60's the Tower presented first run movies and live events with a class and style unequaled by other theaters.
The Tower Theater remains a world class venue, and with the ongoing renovations it can only get better. Of all the venues in the Philadelphia area the Tower stands out with its rich history, lavish lobbies, and versatile facilities. Upper Darby will be on the itineraries of world class performers of all kinds for years to come.

The Wiltern Theatre first opened its doors to movie crowds on October 7th, 1931. Recognized by the City of Los Angeles as a Historic Cultural Monument, this Art Deco Landmark was renovated and restored to its original splendor in 1985, under the direction of Bill Graham Presents. Following a legendary history of performances and events, a $1.5 million facelift led to the Grand Re-Opening on October 15, 2002. Formerly an all-seated venue, the theatre had its 1,200-orchestra seats removed and now features a five-tiered floor that slants upward from the stage, thereby accommodating a standing-room-only configuration. The balcony still offers a thousand seats, and the flexible new arrangement allows for seats to be brought in for more intimate performances. The venue's new capacity is roughly 2,300, depending on how the floor is set up. In October 2003, The Wiltern and LG Electronics, a leading global consumer electronics company, celebrated the renaming of the theater. Currently known as The Wiltern LG, this venue sponsorship will offer concert-goers the opportunity to become acquainted with LG Electronics' line of well-designed, groundbreaking digital products. Formerly a great place to catch more sedate acts, the Wiltern's new design makes it one of LA's coolest venues to check out performers of any type of music says AOLs City Guide.
