I didn't see a thread for this awesome young country singer/songwriter so I thought I would make one. If you don't know who Taylor Swift is you should...here is her official myspace page:

Besides the fact that Taylor Swift is an awesome performer and artist and clearly deserves her very own thread on the OT board here at the Express, another reason I started this thread is because I got to meet her the other day here in Wisconsin and I wanted to share my experiences with everyone.
I've had the privilege to meet KC and she is by far one of the most down to earth, most genuine people ever...Taylor Swift is that person as well. My friend and I (Shelly) were listening to the local country station FM 106 and we heard Taylor doing a in-studio interview and that she would be hanging out for a while helping with their fundraiser to stop child abuse. I live very close to the radio station so we thought we would head over there and check it out, see if we could meet her. After some waiting in the parking lot while brainstorming out how to not be seem sooo creepy Taylor walked out of the studios with her mom and some other people. Since we didn't really come up with anything good to say to get her attention that wasn't creepy during our brainstorming session... "Hey Taylor, could we talk to you for a second?" just came out of my mouth...could've been much better...sure could've been worse though too. She was like "sure" and came right over talk with us. Taylor was so genuine and polite and very appreciative of us being fans of her music and everything. She doesn't at all seem affected by her growing fame, and I hope she never is. Taylor signed our cds booklets, and was even gracious enough to sign a cd for our friend (Jenkinsfanatic) who was in Arizona and loves Taylor too. While we were chatting Taylor's Mom came over and introduced herself to us. She was so great too, also very appreciative of everything and excited that we were going to the show that night. She also called us "resourceful" because we knew where the station was and that they were there...resourceful works for me WAY better than stalkers... When we asked Taylor if we could take a picture with her, her mom volunteered to be the photographer, and when we were just gonna do a group picture as too not take up too much of their time, her mom was like "oh let's do individuals and a group shot, let's do both." They were gracious with their time and for sure made both of our days. For the rest of the day and all through the concert we would say "remember when we met Taylor Swift" to anyone that would remotely care. Overall, I would say our TS adventure was a huge success. Now a days when so many young talents are falling flat on their faces, it was great to meet/see a young star who knows where she comes from and be an example for younger children too. I hope others share their stories of meeting her or have the chance to. In the beginning I was a fan of Taylor Swift because of her music, and now I'm an even bigger fan because of what kind of person she is. |

Yeah, I met her twice at some George Strait shows and she is a freakin' champ. She is very easy going, easy to talk to and incredibly friendly. I don't know if it's her age, or if she has just not yet become alienated by her fame, or if like Kelly she just surrounds herself with good people, but she really is an uncommon "celebrity". Good on her for that.

I just saw her with Brad Paisley on Thursday and she was pretty good, I think she will be such an amazing performer one day, but her voice needs to mature a little bit, or something. She covered part of an Eminem song I think...or some other rapper and it was pretty funny!! She was def. the favorite out of the three openers...everybody stood for her entire set and she told us to sing a line of the song back to her and we ended up singing the entire chorus and it was really loud, so I was really glad that people were into her.
She usually signs autographs after the show, but she didnt for ours, so my sister and I were kind of sad but we met Jack Ingram randomly and got to talk to her merch manager (i think that was his title, someone who worked for her) after the show, along with someone who works for Jack ,for like 45 minutes....they was super nice and really funny...we told them about how we spent like 300 dollars on tickets, just to see the openers...we didn't even want to see Brad and they were amazed and told us they were really sorry that they didnt sign autographs and then we said that we were considering going to the next show because it was only a few hours away and the show was soooo good, so they told us that if we did we should go find them and they would get us backstage somehow and kept goiing on about how surprised they were that we wanted to see them in concert so bad. We didnt end up going because we couldnt find tickets, but we were seriously considering it, haha...the show was amazing. They also said we were one of the loudest crowds ever, so that was cool!! We talked with them forever and learned a lot of cool things about the music industry in general and about selling merchandise, which i never realized was so much work, lol. One of the things they told us, that I though was pretty cool.... Taylor was offered a spot to sing at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade but she turned it down because they done like two hundred shows this past year and have been on the road for like 240 days or something, and she really wanted everyone she worked with to be able to go home for the holidays. My sister and I were pretty impressed by that because that would have been really good promotion.... If anybody has a chance to go see the Brad Paisley tour, I highly reccomend it. I dont even like Brad or know very many of his songs, but its a cool show and it was a lot of fun!! |

I don't know much about her, but she seems really cool. Still very young, but seemed really down to earth. And very pretty, too. I saw her on the finale of America's Got Talent.

I looooove Taylor. I saw her open for Rascal Flatts and then I saw her with LeAnn Rimes. She was awesome both times. Her album is great. She signed autographs after her concert with LeAnn, and the line was insanely long...we would have been there for days or at least many many hours if we waited in it. It was craziness. I could not believe that she sang "Lose Yourself". That was hilarious. I loved when she did "Umbrella". Anywayyyyy I love Taylor, and that's awesome that you got to meet her.

She is doing incredibly well. A platinum debut album, four weeks at #1 on the country charts - with only two singles to back it up. Good effort.
Vocally, she does not stand out in comparison to a lot of female country artists. But when you look at the fact that she wrote that record when she was 15, recorded it and toured on it, you have to be impressed. |

She reminds me of Martina, since she still has a down home quality about her and she been around for 20 years almost. Most of these country stars are just so nice.
